Wow. I haven't posted anything in a really long time. Bad me. I haven't felt all that hot this month. It started on June 2 with extremely painful back pains that over time spread to my chest. I had some anxiety about what may or may not be happening inside of me, and that anxiety finally prompted me to take myself to the ER on June 8. (Ok, I didn't take myself...Kathleen dropped me off, but I made the decision that that is where I needed to go).
The ER wasn't too busy at 8:15a when I got there, and I saw the triage nurse right away. Then they had me go and sit in the waiting room. I sure was glad I had brought a book (I can't remember the title, but it was a mystery by Erica Spindler). I had an EKG which turned out to be normal. Then more waiting. Blood tests came next, and then back to waiting. The ER had filled up a lot by this point. There were some interesting conversations going on behind me. Some people really don't care who might hear them. I was entertained to say the least.
The resident called me in to the back room again and was talking about how my EKG and blood tests and X-rays were clear...and I stopped her and said "ummm, I haven't had any X-rays yet". She looked a little surprised, and then took me straight to X-ray. By this time, Nola had come to sit with me, and I was happy for the company. Finally, about 5 hours after going in, the resident called me back and assured me that MY x-rays were clear, and I could go. She suggested getting a family doctor to follow up. (Thanks to other good friends, I was able to find a clinic that was taking new patients...of course, the earliest appointment I could get was July 7).
Unfortunately, the pain in my chest didn't ease up. I was comforted knowing I wasn't having a heart attack, but wanted answers as to what was happening. Luckily, I have been blessed with great friends who have great suggestions, and who listen to me ramble on in a worried state, and when I wondered if seeing a chiropractor might help, Sheree was there to tell me she thought that was a good idea. She even suggested that I see Dr. McKenna. I looked him up and he was able to see me June 10.
I've had 5 treatments so far, and am happy to announce that I am virtually pain free. He discovered that one of my ribs on the right side was out (stemming from an injury I got a few years ago while at a Dixie Chicks concert). He's an amazing guy. And I am SO THANKFUL for being led to him. I'm even happier to be feeling well.
glad to hear you are well. take care, lori! i think about you all the time!

Ahhh! Lori, I didn't know you were under the weather. I'm glad to hear that everything is on the up and up now, though. Will you please call me if you need anything? (Even though I still haven't paid you, I haven't forgotten and still wish to be considered your friend- albeit slightly flakey, I guess?) Please take care of yourself!
