I Hate January!

January is NOT my favourite month - it's too cold for too long, there is too much snow, and there are no long weekends to look forward to, or to help break up the month. January is monotonous and dreary and doesn't have nearly enough redeeming qualities. Instead of focusing on the negative (like I have been so far this month), I've come up with my list of January 2011 Highlights - the most important of which - THERE IS ONLY ONE DAY LEFT to endure, and then we are on to sweet, short February!

In no particular order:

-the days are getting longer - it started off as only seconds more daylight, but each day we get more and more and it's awesome
-surviving 50cm of snow in 10 days
-shoveling every single day (and usually more than once per day) for the first 20 days of the month
-finding enough space around my yard to throw that 50cm of snow
-the new muscles I found by throwing 50cm of snow higher and higher each day
-FINALLY getting to see Great Big Sea in concert :) (A big thank you to Kath for the ticket and to Traci for deciding she'd stay with the kids and let me go with the extra ticket)
- not needing to visit the chiropractor every week
-having Traci, Joshua, Taylor, Nathan and Andrew come to stay for the weekend
-visiting the Royal Alberta Museum
-snowball fights
-icicles
-knocking a massive icicle off the house and then Nathan deciding that it was "Terry Fox's leg" (that kid has the BEST imagination!)
-taking the kids to Fuss for a cupcake treat (red velvet is my favourite)
-finishing the Book of Mormon again
-SUNSHINE
-beautiful sunrises
-discovering I still have 4.72 vacation days and deciding what to do with them - I'm thinking beach resort or Disneyland or Vegas even

So, good riddance, January. I'm glad you only come around once a year!
