Kauai 2011 - Day 2
Lets call today a decompression day, or an adjustment day. I was still on Canada time, so I woke up at 4:30a and could not go back to sleep, so I got up and prowled around for awhile before everyone else got up. After breakfast, we patiently waited for it to be 8a so that we could go swimming in the pool (which is only steps outside our door). The kids are fearless and even Andrew is leaping off the side face first in a belly flop dive! Nathan learned how to do a front flip off the edge of the pool today. After our swim and short bask in the sun, Kath and I (along with Traci and Josh) were off to Lihue to get groceries and also to get our luggage which was to arrive on the next flight from San Fransisco at noon. We loaded up at Costco and are set now for groceries for at least a week. After putting all the groceries away, most of us went swimming in the pool again. Nola and James and Michae went down to Poipu Beach to body surf. Well, James went to body surf, and Nola and Michae went to suntan ;) It rained a bit while we were swimming, but then the sun came back out and we soaked up the sunshine in the pool chairs. It is so nice to have this day to relax and not be worried about missing something because we do not have time. Most of us went to Snorkel Bobs to get our snorkel gear. I can hardly wait to snorkel. It is one of my favourite things to do here in Hawaii (and probably other places, too, but I have not snorkeled anywhere else). This year my goal is to swim with sea turtles, or at least see them while snorkeling. I think that will be pretty amazing. Snorkel Bob gave us some hints on 2 or 3 snorkel places that turtles have been prevalent at this summer, so when we check them out, I hope we see some! For supper we went to Keoki s for supper! They have an amazing assortment of fresh fish cooked many delicious ways. Tonight, I opted for fish tacos. SO YUMMY. We love that place. They do not even blink twice when we say party of 16 (or party of 18 as it will be when mom is here on Friday and dad is feeling better). Right after supper we came back to the villa and I went immediately to my bed to lie down for a few minutes....but that few minutes turned into all night. LOL. Someone kindly removed my glasses for me and I woke up this morning the same way I had lied down - clothes and all. Looking forward to snorkeling and all the other adventures that await.....
