Kauai Day 10
Today was surf lessons (not for me) so we all headed down to the beach at the Sheraton to watch Joshua, Kathleen, Chantelle, James and Kelly learn to surf. By the time we got there, we got to see all of them get up and ride the waves to shore. It was pretty neat. The beach at the Sheraton is BEAUTIFUL. Light sand and crystal clear water. I opted NOT to bring my swimming suit as I thought that I should give my skin a bit of a break from the sun (I'm nice and dark, but peeling). I wish I had decided differently. The water was SO INVITING. I went with Andrew down to the edge, but a few rogue waves caught me and within minutes, I was soaked up to my thighs. The sun was nice and bright and hot, so it didn't take long to dry out, but I would have loved to have gone out swimming for a little bit. We stayed for a couple of hours after the surf lessons were over and enjoyed each other's company and the sand and the surf. It's amazing how time basically stops while we are at the beach. We had family pictures booked for Shipwreck beach tonight with Nick Gallante (www.kauaiphotos.com), so once back from the beach, we prettied ourselves up and got ready for our photo shoot. Nick took our pictures last year, too. It was fun to meet with him again. Can't wait to see the pictures! We came home to watch the sunset and to have supper (BBQ chicken and fruit salsa courtesy of Peter) and then Aaron's birthday cake (he's 39 today). Now, it's off to bed because we have to leave ridiculously early tomorrow morning for our catamaran trip down the Napali coast with some ocean snorkelling. Can't wait!
